This is my favorite quote because it is very true that our little ones are people also and they are just as important as anyone.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts- Part 1

I still have yet to get a response from international contacts. However, I decided to view the website http://www.childhoodpoverty.org/.

After viewing the website, I decided to report on the country of India.  In relation to early childhood education, this is a country where life is extremely difficult for children. At least half of the children  under age five are malnourished and a great number of infants appear to be significantly underweight. I find that it would be hard for these children to progress developmentally and physically having these problems this early in their lives.

Three insights regrading this wensite include:

- I find it hard to believe that such a large percentage of children below the age of sixteen would be working.

- The enrollment of primary school children rose over a two year span. This is good to see an increase.  This means more children are being educated ast an early age and gaining the needed foundation for years to come.

- It is good to know that achievements have been made in health and education.  This lets me know that children are becomming healthier and more physically fit.

  1. Jacquelyn,

I chose to use the information I found about India for my blog this week. I way also taken aback by the large percentage of children in the work force in India. I hope that the number of children who attend school there continues to increase.

I have not had much luck with the contacts either. Try listening to the podcasts instead; they are full of interesting information about people making a difference in the educational field.

    Have a great week!
